Summer evenings after the whole extended family had spent the day doing god knows what, us kids would be bored as hell and would have to find ways to amuse ourselves. At some point we'd get the Jarts, those heavy-a$$ lawn darts abt the size of your head. The game was, we'd all stand together then one person in the group would throw the Jart up as high as they could and we'd all scatter. That person would then shout STOP and everyone would just freeze and the winner would be the one who was closest to the Jart when it hit, with yhe winner getting to throw the Jart next and say stop. Keep in mind, this was in a pretty rural area, so once this thing went in the air we all lost track of it. More often than not it was anyone's guess where it landed but sometimes I think we'd dip the metal end in gasoline then light it just before tossing it because again, this was 50 years ago so young children having access to matches, lighters and gasoline was the norm. Good times...
